Camo photo

Nicknamed: "Camo"
Black and White
DOB:  11/01/2016

Cardio tested on 02/19/2018 and found to be free of HCM at the time of testing.

Camo is Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default, meaning that both of her parents are Negative.

If curiosity is a word that describes a cat, it would certainly be Camo. She is my mischievous Black and White girl that gets into everything. If I hear a bang in the house, then I know that Camo has struck again. The worst bang was when she knocked over one of my beautiful Tiffany glass lamps. If she could talk, I'm sure she would have yelled "Fire In The Hole" before the lamp hit the floor. Yet, beside being curious, she is a very sweet cat that I love to pieces.

Geasancoon's Teddie of Makanacoon

Nicknamed: "Teddie"

HCM screened on 07/12/2021 and found to be free of HCM at the time of the screening.

Negative for the MyBPC3-A31P Gene Mutation - Both parents are NEGATIVE.

Such a big sweet Teddie Bear this girl is! She's loving, and cuddly, and a joy to be around. She's another girl that gets along with everyone including our Doberman. On 09/06/2021 she had her first litter of kittens who turned out to be little brown puffs of fur. She is an excellent Mom. Shown below are pictures of her kittens at 6 weeks of age:

CH Makanacoon's Red Red Robin

Nicknamed: "Robin"
Red Classic Tabby with White
DOB:  09/21/2015

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 07/05/2017.

Tested for HCM Gene mutation (MYBPC3-A31P). Result: Negative.

Robin is my flashy red headed kitty. Loaded with a lovely shaggy coat, she sashays around the house like a diva. She is a lovely big boned girl that is the spitting image of her dad, CH Makanacoon's Remember When.

CH Makanacoon's Colors R Shin N Thru

Nicknamed: "Colors"
Brown Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  09/21/2015

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 07/05/2017.

Tested for HCM Gene mutation (MYBPC3-A31P). Result: Negative.

When Colors was born, I could see the most beautiful array of colors. She had more colors than the brightest of rainbows. As she grew older, her personality went from sweet to sweeter. She is an absolute doll baby. She loves to be a lap kitty as long as it's on her terms. Many nights I go to sleep with her sleeping peacefully next to me. She is a kitty that I can honestly say, "Her True Colors Are Shin N Thru."

Makanacoon Stelth's Quiet Night

Stelth photo

Nicknamed: "Stelth"
Black
DOB:  10/16/2020

HCM screening to been done when current litter of kittens are weaned.

Negative for the MyBPC3-A31P Gene Mutation.

"At last my Black has come along!" Seems that whenever I got a black kitten, which has has been very rare in my 27 years of breeding Maine Coons, I have let it slip through my fingers. When Stelth came along, I had to keep her. Stelth has the beautiful shiny black coat that is darker then the night's sky. She had her first litter of 7 kittens on 10/17/2021, all lovely Brown Tabbies with White with the golden Classic patterns. She is a wonderful doting mama cat, and is taking great care of her big family.

Tribalcats Honolulu of Makanacoon
Honolulu Photo

Nicknamed: "Lulu"
Black Tortiseshell
DOB:  09/07/2014

Cardio testing performed 05/01/2018. Result: Normal.

Lulu is Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default -- meaning that both parents are Negative.

Lulu is Negative for PK Deficiency.

In all my 20 some years of breeding Maine Coons, my cats have only produced two Black Females. I love Black Maine Coons, but have never had or kept one. Both Black girls slipped through my fingers very quickly. Right Connie? HAHA! Then came Valarie Walters of Tribalcats and Miss Honolulu better known as Lulu. Lulu is the first Black Tortiseshell I have ever had, so now maybe I have a chance to get my black kitty. Lulu was really a riot when she first came to Makanacoon. After she was released from a short quarantine, she walked around the house with the air of a gentle Hawaiian breeze, said hello to everyone, and sashayed by everyone as if she had been here all her life. I love her feral look, her color, her ears.. I could go on and on. Am just so in love with her!! Thanks so much Valarie for such a lovely lady!

Makanacoon's Big Brown Hibiscus

Nicknamed: "Hibiscus"
Brown Mackerel Tabby with White Polydactyl
DOB:  09/07/2018

HCM screened on 07/17/2019, and found to be free of HCM at the time of the screening. (First Screening)

Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default -- both of her parents are Negative.

When Hibiscus was born, I didn't know if I would be keeping her or would be letting her go to another cattery as their breeder and TICA show girl. I'm glad I kept her, as she is growing into a lovely big-boned sweet girl. I have fallen in love with the Hibiscus plants that I have collected from Hidden Valley Hibiscus in California. Thus it seemed appropriate to finally have a big girl that I could call Brown Hibiscus, as the company has some plants that produce gorgeous brown flowers. (Actually, I never knew that there were brown hibiscus.) I really adore this girl, and love to hold and cuddle with her. She is the first Maine Coon I have ever had that lies down on her stomach with both back legs stretched out behind her.

CH Makanacoon's Sweet Annie
Sweet Annie Photo

Nicknamed: "Sweetie"
Silver Classic Tabby with White
DOB:  10/26/2013

HCM cardio tested, and found to be free of HCM On 05/20/2015

Tested for HCM Gene mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) on 08/08/2014 Result: Negative

Sweetie is a darling silver classic with white female. She had her first litter of coonlets in 2015, and they turned out to be lovely. She is the daughter of GC Makanacoon's Alamoana Annie, and has already proved that she can stand in her Mom's footprints. Sweetie has points toward being a Grand Champion.

Nicknamed "Lani"
(Her name is pronounced Ah-low-ha  La-knee)
Brown Classic Tabby
DOB:  06/08/2005

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 03/21/2009.

Her name means Heavenly Love in Hawaiian.  What a great Hawaiian name for such a sweet girl.  Lani as we call her is Heavenly.  Her sweet expression, coat pattern with it's golds and gorgeous swirls, and solid body all combine to make her a knockout.   She's very quiet in nature until the toys and feathers come out, then our little angel becomes a wild kitty.  She'll go over the top of anyone to get a feather, and then as proud as a peacock (with feathers  in  mouth ), she'll parade around the house daring anyone to take her catch away!  Once the feathers disappear, she immediately goes back into her angel mode.  Yes, she's quite a gal!

DOB:  05/06/2009

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 06/19/2010.

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) on 02/10/2010.  Result - Negative.

Annie bears the name of my Mother, Anne.   Since we lived many years in Hawaii and on Midway Island where there were many beautiful pathways full of colorful fragrant flowers that led down to the ocean, it seemed appropriate to give this kitten this name.   I remember many a day of walking down to the beaches with my mother.   When my mother met Annie, her eyes brightened, and she got a kick out of her namesake.   Annie will always bring back special memories to me!

Oldwestcoons Mollei of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Mollei (Moll lay)
Silver Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  02/24/2009

HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 11/07/2009.

Mollei is Negative for the Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) by default...both parents tested Negative.

Mollei is a huge girl, very long in the body, with the tall tight ears that some breeders are now putting on the Maine Coon today.  She is a very flashy girl, careful in nature, but a cat that would survive in the wilderness, as she evaluates a situation before she jumps right into it.  She loves our cat trees, and can be found on the highest perches where she can keep an eye on everything that goes on.  If she were allowed to climb a mountain, she would probably be the first cat to reach Mount Everest!  She is an amazing cat, very regal and definitely a queen!
We wish to thank John and MJ for this lovely Raindear and Remmington daughter, so we were able to continue CH Makanacoon's Island Raindear's lineage.

CH Makanacoon's Hey Look At Me Now

Nicknamed Me Now
Black Smoke with White
DOB:  07/30/2009

HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 06/19/2010.

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 02/10/2010.  Result - Negative.

When Me Now was less than a week old, I thought I was losing her so I put her on a mild antibiotic.  That night I was surprised to see her up and nursing, and so said to her... "Hey look at you now".  That later became the perfect name for her.

Today she is a lovely, healthy, thriving young female. I love to pick her up to feel how solid her boning is for a Smoke female.  I'm sure if she were ever on a Kitty Survivor Show, she would definitely be the winner.

CH Mainally Miz Jessie of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Jessi
Brown Mackerel PatchTabby with White
DOB:  05/23/2009

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 10/20/2012.

Jessi is Negative for the MyBPC-3 gene mutation by Default - meaning that both parents are Negative.

We got Jessi from dear friend Cheryl Windsor of Mainally Cattery, and wish to thank her for such a lovely lady.  Jessi is a real kick and just exudes energy and fun.  She has the happiest purrrrrsonality, and always struts around the house with a smile on her darling face.  She gets along with everyone and loves everyone.  From the time she came to our home, she just fit in so perfectly, and immediately made the rounds to say hello to every one.  We love everything about this little girl!  Cheryl, you did a fabulous job with this kitten!

CH Oldwestcoons Rosalani of Makanacoon

Nicknamed Rosie
Silver Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  02/24/2010

HCM cardio tested and found to be free of HCM on 10/20/2012.

Rosie is such a perfect name for this sweet lady. She is like the rose that is so beautiful and showy called "Double Delight". The more you see her and are around her the more you love her. She has a warm heart and loves to be around anyone who will pet her or show her attention. Yet at times, she is so quiet one would never know she's there ...until you look up to the highest shelf of a cat tree. Then you realize that she's been watching you all the time. She is a delight to have around! Thank you so much MJ and John, I love her!!!

CH Makanacoon's I'm So Pretty

Nicknamed "Pretty"
Bicolor - Blue and White
DOB:  06/24/2012

HCM cardio tested and clear at time of testing on 11/16/2013.

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 08/15/2014.  Result - Positive - Heterozygous.

Pretty, as we call her, is from our last Purrbodys Boomerang and CH RPCathouse Babyapua of Makanacoon litter. Although given such a "pretty"name, she is a 100% dynamite little lady. Talk about energy, personality, and a cat that has to check EVERYTHING in the house out. Busy as a bee, and so comical in all the things she finds to do and get into, she has definitely earned her name with confidence. She is shown here at 8 months of age.

CH Makanacoon's Drifting On A Memory

Nicknamed Drifter
Brown Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  10/09/2009

HCM tested and clear at time of testing on 06/19/2010.

Drifter is Negative for the MyBPC-3 gene mutation by Default - meaning that both parents are Negative

Drifter was named after the Isley Brothers song, "For The Love Of You" that goes something like this:
Drifting on a memory
Ain't no place I'd rather be
Than with you loving you...

She was born into a litter of 2 sisters and 4 brothers, and despite getting lost in the numbers, she was able to make a way into my heart.  Today the name has turned out to be perfect for her, as she just seems to drift all over the house.  We see her in the tallest cat tree, and a few minutes later she can be found curled up and sleeping next to her beloved Dobbie Hulia.

We hope that in the years ahead, we will have many memories that will forever drift through our minds about her.  As we know, the love of a cat can do that to us...

CH Makanacoon's Malala

Nicknamed "Lala"
Brown Mackerel Tabby with White
DOB:  05/23/2013

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (cMyBPC-3) on 08/15/2014.  Result - Negative.

Lala is a very spirited young female, and one of the few mackerel tabby patterned girls that we have right now. She is our lookout kitty who sits in a cat tree in front of a window that looks out into our front yard. We have loads of flowers that attract hummingbirds, dragonflies, bumble bees - you name it. All these birds and insects sure keep her busy. When we hear her clacking her teeth, we know she's at high alert, and a bird is near -- very near!

CH Makanacoon's Kuu Kikokiko
Kiko

Kiko

Nicknamed "Kiko"(Prounced Key-ko)
Dilute Calico
DOB:  08/04/2012

HCM cardio tested and clear at time of testing on 11/16/2013.

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) on 08/15/2014.  Result - Negative.

Kikokiko (pronounced Key-ko Key-ko) in Hawaiian means being spotted. One look at Kiko, and you'll know why she got her name. She is ever so sweet with a very soft personality. However, when she's teamed up with her buddy, Pretty, all you usually see are two running balls of fur going in a kazillion directions. Kiko is the second calico we have gotten in the last 18 years of breeding, so she is very special!

CH Makanacoon's Kunono
Kunono Photo

Nicknamed: "No No"
Brown Classic Patch Tabby with white
DOB:  04/19/2014

HCM cardio tested, and found to be free of HCM On 05/20/2015

Negative for HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) by default, meaning both parents are negative.

When Coonopry's Rocky Top and CH Makanacoon's Drifting On A Memory had their first litter together, I knew the kittens were going to be something special. I was right! They ended up being one of the best litters of kittens I've ever had. The female I kept from that litter is one of the biggest-boned females in my cattery today, weighing in at close to 14 lbs at one year of age. My goodness, I can't imagine how big she'll be at maturity. Because of the firey red color in her patched pattern, I named her Kunono, which is pronounced Koo-no-no in Hawaiian, and means bright red. At her first Championship show, she picked up points toward becoming a Grand Champion. Unfortunately, with shows being so few and far between in the Tidewater area, my hopes of Granding her are very slim.

Makanacoon's Puamana

Nicknamed: "Pua"
Silver Mackerel Patched Tabby with White Polydactyl
DOB:  12/21/2013

Puamana was cardio tested on 05/20/2015 and found to be free of HCM at the time of testing.

Pua is Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default, meaning that both of her parents are Negative.

Pua is our first Polydactyl female born here at Makanacoon. Her dad is Coonopry's Rocky Top who is producing some lovely large boned kittens with loads of coat and t darling sweet dispositions. Pua is a large girl who is extremely sweet like her dad, but loves being her own boss. Yes, she is very independent! She has proved to be an excellent mom, with her first two baby boys on the ground now (02/06/2015). We love her because of her uniqueness, and sensitivity.

CH RPCathouse Nali of Makanacoon
Nali Photo

Nicknamed: "Nali"

DOB:  04/18/2014

HCM cardio tested, and found to be free of HCM On 05/20/2015

Tested for HCM Gene mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) on 08/08/2014 Result: Negative

Nali is pronounced Nah-Lee in Hawaiian and means Nibbles. Evidently, Nali started nibbling fingers as a kitten and continues this behavior as a adult today. If she isn't trying to crawl into or go through someone's purse, she can be found stealing straws from any drinks left in the house. Everyone who sees Nali comments on her beautiful eyes and ears. Her eyes sure do reflect the gentle soul that is behind them. Stella, we adore her! It is so much fun to get a Twitty Kitty. Every time I see Nali, I sincerely think of you. Many hugs to you, my friend!

Nicknamed: "Easy"
Black Smoke with White Polydactyl
DOB:  03/18/2015

Cardio testing for HCM performed 02/19/2018. Result: Clear for HCM.

Easy is Negative for HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) by default, meaning both parents are negative.

On March 18th, 2015, I had the most wonderful litter born to CH Makanacoon's Hey Look At Me Now, sired by our beautiful Coonopry polydactly male Rocky Top. The litter was fun to work with, and the kittens smart and adorable. I kept a Black Smoke with White polydactyl Female from the litter that sincerely adopted me, and would follow me around like a dog. She later was nicknamed Easy because that word so aptly describes her. At night she stays very close to me, sleeping on my hip or back. If I wake up during the night, I can reach out, and she is always there. Easy is a very tender little girl, and is expecting kittens the end of Feb 2016. The kittens are sired by her boyfriend, Charlie.

CH Makanacoon's Kalei
Kalei Photo

Nicknamed: "Kalei"
Brown Patched Tabby-White
DOB:  09/09/2014

Screened for HCM and found to be free of HCM on 04/06/2016 (1st screening).

Kalei is Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default -- meaning that both parents are Negative.

Kalei is one of my girls that I love so much, I could almost say she takes my breathe away when I look at her. Her name is pronounced Kah-Lay in Hawaiian, and means "the necklace, garland, or wreath of flowers given as a symbol of affection". Kalei's Mom is Kaui Katie who we hoped would put a taller ear on her kittens. Katie didn't let us down, and produced lovely heads and ears on both her kittens Kalei and Kanani below. Kalei has a kaleidoscope of colors in her coat from vibrant reds, to browns to blacks, and then white. She picked up Grand Champion points in her first show as an 8 month old.

CH Makanacoon's Kanani
Kanani Photo

Nicknamed: "Kanani"
Brown Patched Tabby-White
DOB:  09/09/2014

Screened for HCM and found to be free of HCM on 04/06/2016 (1st screening).

Kanani is Negative for the MYBPC3-A31P gene mutation by default -- meaning that both parents are Negative.

Kanani is a full sister to Kalei above. She is a little bigger boned than Kalei, but doesn't have the vibrant red colors in her coat as her sister. But, she is another wonderful example of a Maine Coon in that she's very sweet, majestic, and eye catching. In Hawaiian, Kanani is pronounced Kah-Nah-Nee, and means, "The Beauty". Such a perfect name for such a lovely lady. She also has earned points toward being a Grand Champion.

Tremethick's Kaui Katie of Makanacoon

Nicknamed "Katie"
Brown Ticked Tabby
DOB:  08/04/2012

HCM cardio tested on 07/17/2019 and found to be Negative for HCM. (2nd screening)

Tested for HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) on 08/15/2014.  Result - Negative.

Miss Katie with her regal self is a "Lady Coon" we love having here at Makanacoon. We wish to thank Bonnie Pearson of Tremethick Cattery for Katie with her tall beautiful ears, and lovely feral expression. Her personality and sweet temperament makes her a cat that everyone loves to be around.

CH Mainally's Makalika of Makanacoon
Makalika

Makalika

Nicknamed: "Maka"
Brown Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  04/19/2014

HCM Cardio tested and free of HCM on 05/20/2015

Gene mutation test negative for PK Deficiency, HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P), and SMA. Not at risk for any of the tested known disorders in Maine Coons.

Note: The Gene Mutation test does not take the place of a cardio sonogram of the heart of the cat using Doppler and examination by a Board Certified Cardiologist.

Makalika, pronounced Mah-Kah-Leek-Ah is Hawaiian and means daisy. When the length of the Maine Coon ear in the Cat Fancier's Association was bred to be taller and tighter, we finally started trying to breed the same in our cats. Makalika was one of the girls we brought into our cattery to help us achieve this. We are so grateful to Cheryl Windsor, Makalika's breeder, for telling us about her. Today Maka is one of our sweetest females with a purrsonality that could melt a Hershey Kiss. It is nothing for her to walk into a room full of strangers and jump into someone's lap for some loving. To say I adore her is putting it mildly, Cheryl! Her first litter (2015) was dynamite. We're holding onto two of her first kittens: Makanacoon's Red Red Robin (Red Tabby with White), and Makanacoon's Colors R Shine N Thru (Brown Patch Tabby with White) for our show and breeding program.

CH Rockstarcats Rainboz of Makanacoon
Rainboz Photo

Nicknamed: "Rainboz"
DOB:  12/18/2014
Silver Mackerel Patch Tabby with White
DOB:  12/18/2014

Screened for HCM and found to be free of HCM on 04/06/2016 (1st screening).

Negative for the HCM Gene Mutation (MYBPC3-A31P) by default - both parents are negative.

Rainboz is a big gorgeous soft silver girl with light red silver tones that are scattered through out her coat. Since she is a sister to Charlie who is on the Males page, she shares the same pedigree history as he does. She carries the "Bo" in her name from the word Bohemian, and the "Z" letter in her name from the word Zebulon. Thus the name Rainbow became Rainboz in memory of one of the best cats I've ever had: GC Purricoon's Bohemian Zebulon who is in her pedigree. Rainboz is a very substantial girl, heavy in weight, and solid as a rock. We wish to thank Mary Beth Crawford of Rockstarcats for these two beautiful cats. We came into breeding with Bohemian Zebulon in our breeding program. It's nice to know that in a few years, we will be going out of breeding with hopefully the same pedigree lines that go back to him and our beginnings. Thanks so very much Mary Beth for allowing us to get this wonderful big sweet girl!!

DOB:  05/14/2020

Makakai (pronounced MAH-KAH-KAH-E) means the spray of a surf that gets on one's face. We were so excited when we got Maka from Lydia Chapman of Sassietats. Maka is a very sweet girl that gets along with everyone, and is a delight to have. Her Patch colors are brilliantly vivid with all kinds of red, brown, black, and tan hues. Talk about a kaleidoscope of rainbow colors! Within all these colors is a gorgeous classic pattern that stands out.
